ILYA HOFFMAN (VIOLIN), REBECCA HALL (FLUTE)
MALTA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA conducted by MICHAEL LAUS
The Violin Concerto, written in 1882, is possibly Brüll's finest work, and the glorious slow movement is one of the most delicious concertante pieces ever written for the violin. However the score and the parts were found to have serious flaws. Fortunately, Michael Laus, Musical Director of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, agreed to make the extensive corrections required for the premiere recording, working from the autograph score and from a piano score which was published in 1890. He worked closely with Moscow-based violinist Ilya Hoffman, and the recording took place in June 2011.
Jadassohn's Serenade for Flute and Strings includes a Notturno which soloist Rebecca Hall describes as the jewel of the work, and a "breathless and virtuosic Tarantella" to finish.
Running Time: 66 Minutes. Recorded in 2011.
Number pieces in box:1
